What Burn is
Most “step tracker for Android” results are Play Store apps with ads and sign-in. Burn is the other kind: a small open source walker. You download the APK, grant activity permission, and walk.
- Steps only. No workout log. No calendar clutter.
- Keeps counting in the background and after a reboot.
- Timer in HH:MM:SS, distance, and calories on one ring.
- History for days, weeks, and months.
- Pitch-black dark mode.
- Health lines about heart, blood pressure, sugar, and joints. A new one each time you open Steps.
- After 4,000 steps, a plain percent: how this day compares to a typical walker.
Who it is for
If you searched for a free step tracker, a simple step tracker, or a GitHub step tracker APK, this is the fit. It is especially comfortable for older adults who want walking, not a gym app.
Who built it
Arjun. The app used to be called Bulk. It was stripped down to steps on purpose: fewer screens, fewer permissions, data stays on the device. That is first-hand experience, not a rewrite of someone else’s pedometer README.
